Understand how Wiser Browser protects your privacy at every level.
Safe Browsing #
Wiser Browser checks URLs against locally-stored safe browsing lists to protect you from phishing sites, malware, and other web-based threats. These lists are periodically updated and stored entirely on your device.
Unlike Chrome's standard Safe Browsing, Wiser Browser does not send the URLs you visit to any remote server for real-time checking. This means your browsing history stays completely private while still benefiting from threat protection.
You can configure Safe Browsing protection levels in Settings > Privacy and Security > Security.
Cookies #
Wiser Browser gives you full control over which sites can store cookies on your device. You can allow, block, or allow only for the current session on a per-site basis.
Third-party cookies are blocked by default in Wiser Browser. This prevents advertising networks and data brokers from tracking you across different websites. Sites that require third-party cookies for legitimate functionality can be individually allowlisted.
Manage cookie settings at Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data.
Do Not Track #
When enabled, Wiser Browser sends a Do Not Track (DNT) header with every web request, signaling to websites that you do not wish to be tracked. While compliance with DNT is voluntary on the website's part, Wiser Browser enables this signal by default as part of its privacy-first approach.
In addition to the DNT header, Wiser Browser also sends the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which has legal backing under regulations such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
You can toggle these signals in Settings > Privacy and Security.
IP Protection #
Your IP address can reveal your approximate location and be used to build a profile of your online activity. Wiser Browser is designed to minimize IP address exposure to third-party trackers embedded in the pages you visit.
Wiser Browser does not route your traffic through Google's IP Protection proxies. Instead, the browser focuses on blocking known tracking domains and third-party connections that would unnecessarily reveal your IP address.
For enhanced IP privacy, Wiser Browser works seamlessly with VPN services and the Tor network.
Ad Privacy #
Wiser Browser disables all Chrome advertising features including the Topics API, the Protected Audiences API (formerly FLEDGE), and Attribution Reporting. These APIs were designed to facilitate targeted advertising within the browser and are not aligned with Wiser Browser's privacy-first mission.
No browsing topics are calculated, no interest groups are joined, and no ad conversion data is shared with any party. Your browsing behavior is never used to build advertising profiles.
This means advertisers cannot use Wiser Browser's built-in features to target or measure ads shown to you.
Incognito Mode #
Incognito mode provides a temporary browsing session that does not save your browsing history, cookies, site data, or form entries. When you close an Incognito window, all data from that session is permanently deleted from your device.
Incognito mode in Wiser Browser provides stronger protections than Chrome's implementation. Fingerprinting resistance is enhanced, and no data leaks between Incognito and regular browsing sessions.
Note that Incognito mode does not make you invisible to websites you visit, your internet service provider, or your employer's network. For full anonymity, consider using the Tor network.
Clear Browsing Data #
You can clear your browsing data at any time, including browsing history, cookies, cached files, saved passwords, autofill data, and site settings. Wiser Browser ensures that data deletion is thorough and permanent -- cleared data cannot be recovered.
Choose specific time ranges (last hour, last day, last week, all time) and data types to clear. You can also set Wiser Browser to automatically clear selected data types when you close the browser.
Access this feature at Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear browsing data.
Activity #
Wiser Browser does not maintain any cloud-based activity log. Your browsing activity exists only on your local device and is never uploaded to any server for analysis, personalization, or advertising purposes.
Local browsing history is stored on your device and can be searched, viewed, and deleted at any time. Unlike Chrome, there is no "Web & App Activity" setting because Wiser Browser does not collect activity data in the first place.
If you use Wiser Sync, your history can optionally be synced between your devices using end-to-end encryption, but it is never accessible to Wiser or any third party.
